Yesterday, took the small camera shopping with me. In its day, this was a road a hundred pubs. Now there are only two. The road runs alongside the town hall.

I now keep the small canon (pistol) to hand when I’m out. So can catch these odd shots. š

I’m contemplating buying myself a smaller one than my Rebel. I didn’t even bring it on my cruise as I didn’t feel like lugging it. My niece had a nice little one that took beautiful pictures and videos…

Oh, my big one’s a Rebel (not called thatin UK) My ‘pistol’ is a Canon Ixus 177. Takes photos as big as the Eos. I’ll email you a photo I took a couple of days back. I was intending to anyway…

I know your big one is! A level or two above mine.
I don’t need the big paraphernalia anymore… Looking forward to seeing it!

I was unpressed.
I bought the camera about 3 years ago and had hardly used it. But taking indoor shots… a doddle

Why is that?

Odd. I’ve replied to this
It was a typo. Should read impressed š

Um, where the jig did that come from? I think it’s meant to read “impressed”. Sorry. š

Looks like a rather typically English street. Very nice shot.

GY, it’s where I live.

I love this shot! I want to go down that road. And good idea for keeping a smaller camera on hand for when you’re out and about. There are a lot of good shots I miss because I don’t have my camera with me!

Today’s phone-cameras are so good, but mine is not. So, I’ve had this one for about 3 years, and seldom use it. Frustration inspired…

A hundred pubs! Ah, time when I’d take that as a challenge (which, incidentally, I would fail, even in my 20s). One of the weird but delightful experiences of the current plague is going to places that would normally be crowded, when they are not. Several tourist destinations are enjoying the respite (so long as we’re not talking about those who make money off the tourist trade). And I was thinking to myself on my morning bike ride to Alewife Station that there was curiously little traffic on the road, even for a Saturday morning.

They’ll be okay during the warmers months, every one sitting outside.
But what happens when winter comes if Covid is still with us (which is likely to be at some level)
And it used to be said there were as many churches in GY as there were pubs.
That same road now has 2 churches and until recently 3 pubs. Alas, now only 2

But having said that. WWII bombs took out a chunk of the old buildings

The town was heavily bombed…. the Yare took shipping from Norwich where several companies were involved in producing aircraft etc

100 pubs? How many drunks?

It was a busy port… lots of sailors requiring lots of booze. Had a reputation of being a violent town

Booze tends to do that!

Personally, I’d say cannabis does far less harm than alcohol… but in this country it’s illegal, while booze is not

I honestly think I’d be fine with legalizing cannabis if people would just do brownies or burgers instead of smoking it… I can’t stand smoke, whether it be weed, tobacco, or otherwise, and no one can control where their smoke goes.
I know you get a better high/effect with less product by smoking, but that exact effect is also why it’s so much less healthy to smoke. So, if people wouldn’t smoke, I’d be fine.

I can’t smoke it… I can’t smoke (asthma) so long since I’ve inhaled smoke, I’d probably choke.
