Lap Up That Pain

image: Joanquin Aranoa

Lap up that pain
That feeling mightn’t come again
You might find numbness follows
Fear inures you to another
Armour, thickened skin, self-protection
Grown and honed to impenetrable perfection
Lap up that pain
You might not ever feel again

To bring balance… for there are two sides to love

    Beautifully done, Crispina.
Yes, there are. We could never fully appreciate the good without tasting the bad…

This is… I don’t think saying it’s beautiful does it justice. Because yes, it is beautiful but so are many other poems that i keep coming across each day. What makes it special, for me on a personal basis, is i find it acutely relatable. As do, i am sure, all your readers who have liked it. It’s beautiful because it touches on something many of us end up doing during one or the other phase of our lives.

  6. Wise advice, we need to feel both the good and the bad to appreciate life.

    Beautifully written Poeta.
Es cosa de dos – It takes two to tango.
And yes “for there are two sides to love.”

      • I’m picking up sales. Not mega, but it’s because I’m connecting
And I admit, I am having fun. Quirky funny comments. And I put my photos out too.

Like I said priorities and not just me. I guess we have to make choices. You’re going away from your timetable (Like sleep early and not spending so much time on the computer.) You were so adament about it. You preached to me about it!
Our loss I guess. I hope your gain is worth it.

      • But see, Jen, late though I was going to be, I was up at 5:30, bright and bushy tailed, bouncing, happy to greet another day
I’m walking. Not sure yet if it’ll be the 9-10 miles to Burgh Castle and back or whether we’ll keep it the 7-8 miles we’ve been doing.
The thing is, once you’ve sorted you sleep problems, an occasional late night does no damage

Pain is required to enjoy the ecstasy.

It has to be released, so we can heal.

I know where you are coming from with your poem.
