The plague hit hard, the population halved in the first year, in the second year halved again. In the third year its source was found. It came from the ground, present in patches of contaminated soil.
Attempts to lift, remove and isolate the soil only resulted in a further spread and yet more deaths. Now we’re building tall towers to support our new housing… for those who survive.
No, I’ve no idea what these towers are intended for, found to the north of Yarmouth’s harbour. But they fascinated me.
And while I don’t usually mess with the photos, here I did add an ominous sky. Yea, well, the original was boring pale blue!
It looks natural.

You mean my tweaks. I don’t often do that. But… I thought it might help with inspiration 🙂

Yes, I realized that the comment was a bit cryptic! It looks totally natural, not Photo shopped.

It’s not Photoshop; I don’t have Photoshop. It’s just a filter, on MS Polarr.

Wow! I have no idea how to do stuff like this.

Using Polarr, it’s easy. The other business, with Photoshop, nah, miles beyond me

I kept looking and looking at your picture this week and sadly nothing came to me. I like your story though.

It happens. Maybe next week’s photo will prove more inspiring for you 🙂

Nothing wrong with tweaking photos to serve our purpose (I’ve tweaked a few of mine to make them match yours, after all!)
As for this story – as ominous as your sky…

Thank you. Although I broke my promise to myself, that I wouldn’t indulge in viral fantasies

Right back at ya! Smiles through the snain (coz it is both raining and snowing) ugh

Snow and rain? But that makes staying in so much more bearable. After climbing the walls all winter, confined by the weather, we now have sunshine, and warmth… and there’s a helicopter buzzing above us, ready to chase us back in if we dare come out. Okay, that might be an exaggeration, I might be assuming, but that’s what’s happening in other parts of England. The Police Unleashed. Might be my next book!

Don’t you think? I know what you mean. The month started off beautiful.
Is that really happening? That’s crazy – you can’t even take a walk? Within a certain perimeter, I mean? Then again, I wish they’d be stricter is certain area where peeps don’t listen.
It’ll be a thriller!

I’ve known snow blizzards… that’ll be the year our heating broke down in the theatre… but the show had to go on. Elkie Brookes performed in a sheepskin coat!
And yea, in some areas the police have had trouble interpretating instructions.

Snot blizzards I am way too familiar with. I prefer when the do NOT happen in April. There are years where photos taken during my birthday have me wearing an Easter dress and others, wearing a snowsuit!
Bloody hell… if the police are having trouble interpreting, imagine the regular folk.

A high court judge has verbally rapped the police knuckles for overstepping… and Happy Birthday. Oh gosh, was that last week? I’m sure I’ve wished you HB before. Brain is fragmenting 🙂

Good for the judge.
And no, not yet, Tuesday coming 😉
Brain is not fragmenting, don’t you fret.

I’m looking for an optimistic scenario and I’m sure I’ll find it!
Yours isn’t entirely pessimistic because they’re still searching and have hope for their survival.
I’ve seen some devastating scenarios on WP. This isn’t one of them. Keep em coming! 🙂💐

I ike that you tweaked this photo – the filter definitely adds something. Great idea for a story, that contaminated earth. Nicely told
