They’re gonna put me in the movies
They’re gonna make a big star out of me
Nope. I got a film industry job, but it wasn’t as an actor.
I got the job of Continuity.
35 words written for Sammi’s Weekend Prompt: Continuity
Continuity is responsible for ensuring all those tiny seemingly unimportant details in a scene match up, take after take after take. I once thought it a dream of a job.
Ah, you’d be so good at that! With your eye for detail, there are few people I know who’d be better 🙂 I used to want to be a researcher, though mainly because I imagined it involved leafing through books for a living.

This comes from an incident when I was at school. Our English teacher said, I want you all to be Continuity Girls (as was then the term). And I was the only one who knew what it meant. Yea, most of my working life has involved very close attention to detail.

I didn’t know that was a job – was the “coffee cup in Game of Thrones” a failure of continuity?

Yep. That and all those times an actor’s hair changes style and, the wrong number of buttons are done up etc etc. Oh, the disappearing plot plant used to be a favouite. And the roses that start off in full bloom, and then are suddenly only on bud

Hahaha – I bet they use plastic flowers in movie sets so they can’t have different bloom states in scenes.

More likely to be silk flowers, they look more natural

That you. The challenge was to do it in 35 words. And it came out just right.
In case it’s less familiar to you, the opening lines come from a Beatles sonng (Act Naturally) song by Ringo Star

I had been inspired to *write in the style of*… an adult book. It wasn’t graphic. Just spicey.

A very important job! There are so many jobs in the movies that are just as important as the ones that get noticed!
