I wouldn’t have known what they were. Are they going to have blades on them that turn in the wind when they are done?

They are indeed. When they first starting constructing these towers I thought them odd-looking oil rigs, since they also make rigs here (in fact I’ve had one almost outside my door the past month). But gettting closer, it does become obvious what they are.

An interesting type of wind turbines. The ones we have here are individual poles or stems, with a mounted blade, spaced quite a distance apart.on a hillside.
As an avid bird lover, I detest wind turbines and those blades that kill so many birds, but I guess any source of power we create ourselves must disrupt something of the environment. Thank God for Niagara Falls. 😉

These towers are under construction. Wind turbines made here are shipped all over the world. And I’d say their tops are added at destination.
And I fully agree about the damage to wildlife. We had nesting Little Terns, now quite rare in Britain. But then again, I ought to rephrase that. We HAD nesting terns.

Yeah… I’m reconsidering this line of work. My knees and feet are not impressed with this new place of work any more than the last one.

I didn’t realise you’d changed jobs. I knew you’d been looking. Take a tip from me. I changed from unsocialable hours, always on my feet, to a 9-to-5 job confined to a desk…. and I was thoroughly miserable despite I enjoyed the work

I worked 9-to-5 (8-4, 7-3) for over thirty years. This job I started one week ago yesterday! I wanted to see if working in a small restaurant as opposed to a large golf club would be more enjoyable. It is. But there is too much standing around which is a killer.

Ah, the standing. Yea. In walking and moving, the body is in constant motion, and we don’t feel it’s weight on our joints. But in standing still… I will walk 10 miles, happy. But in having to wait 15 mins for bus, suddenly my body is screaming. I feel for you

It is exactly that! I would rather have a shift where I walk 10K steps in 4-5 hours than to do so in 8.5 as I did last night. This is one of the reasons I loathe shopping in malls – you know those people who love to stop at every single store? I’m NOT one of them.
This is why working the bar did not really work for me last year. Small space, barely moving – well, I did, but you know, nothing like serving.

I do that on my walks… and sometimes even get a good morning back! But mostly, it’s dumping mail in individual mail boxes or those new “mail station boxes” for new neighbourhoods…

Thank you. And spring greetings to you too. Though it doesn’t feel much like spring here… as you’ve already been told, we have a storm. But it’s hitting from the southwest, and in that direction my place is protected. So as long as I don’t need to go out, I’m not complaining.

No, I live on the east coast, the edge of the North Sea. So… the wind is roaring, but it’s not doing much damage

Thank goodness… that’s okay. Storms can be quite scary. Last year, one of my friends suffered huge damage.

Our storms are seldom severe enough to cause notable damage. That’s why we remember the storm of 1987. IT tore up trees in a swathe across Southern England. Tore roofs of buildings. Lifted my father’s greenhouse and planted it in a neighbour’s garden. I slept through it. What storm?
