You must know by now I’m addicted to flower photography. But while my usual subjects are found growing by the wayside, not these. These lilies are my regular treat to myself.

OH! I love lilies. They last forever and smell so sweet! ππ

I do love the smell of them… some people find them overpowering. But at the moment they’re having to compete with the leather spray on the new settee. All the buds are out now. Difficult to count them, but I think it’s 22 blooms on five stalks, enormous. I had to move the vase from its original place to give it more space.

Wow! You know its lucky for you the scent doesn’t bother you. Some people can’t keep them because of it. I actually have a problem with Easter Lilies. I had tons of them for sale once and wondered after a week why I was getting headaches. I had to switch the location with the Hydrangeas.
Your lilies must be amazing!!

I sank into the settee, and sank into a book. Now a quick answer where I can, and turn in for the night

Morning. But I didn’t sleep well, though I don’t know why. Got too deeply into the book, couldn’t put it down.

Sorry you didn’t sleep well and I’m hoping you’re feeling better and more awake now. Must have been a great book!

Indeed. I’m still battling between wanting to read and needing to work. Discipline. I’ve used that word an awful lot of late

Lilies are my favourite flowers.

It is hard not to like them. I’ve taken to treating myself. I’ve always got at least one vase of flowers fresh. Might be lilies, might be roses, might be carnations, might be alstroemeria. But they’re always white. My room is quite dark, and the white brightens it

Lilies are so pretty. A wonderful treat to yourself! I may have to start doing this for me too. π

Well, why wait for someone to treat you, that’s what I say.

such a cool photo. I love lilies in bud like that, every bit as beautiful as the bloom.

Thank you. It was a spur of the moment think. I’d bought the lilies, arranged them, walked past them and saw the composition. So out came the camera. I played about a bit with lighting. Easily done since the wall is lavender, it lends itself to a wide spectrum. Note, I don’t have Photoshop, so there’s no messing here. And the brass candlesticks looked so good in that light

They’re lovely and I think it’s great that you treat yourself! You deserve it Crispina! β€

I thank you. I don’t know why people don’t buy themselves flowers. Why must we always wait for someone else to do it?

I love how the one lily that’s beginning to open is glowing a bit. Magical!

The one that’s caught in the glow of the tablelamp. The photo was taken at night, with all lights blazing, and with flash. Yet it’s still a dark picture, which I liked. Those lilies are still going strong, enormous blooms.

Do you expect them to bloom?

There are in bloom at the moment. Enormous heads, the entire arrangement measuring more than two feet across. But those blooms the first out are beginning to fade. I’ve perhaps got another four or five days before they all fade and the petals fall.
