Replace this face with one that’s younger, fresher, not so worn
Replace this back with one that’s stronger, not so aching, not so torn
Replace this neck with one that’s looser, with traps that aren’t so tight
Replace this wrist, the one I broke, this one on the right
Replace these hips, crumbling with the many miles they’ve walked
Replace this voice, husky from the many nights I’ve talked
Replace the thumbs before, with nerves compressed, they numb
Replace it all but… please… leave me my brain and mind
89 words written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt
Excellent take on the prompt, Crispina.
There are a few pieces I would like replaced myself 😉

Shame I had to keep it down to 89 words. My first draft was treble that!

Oh dear! I swear my brain goes into word number mode. I almost always come close…

I’m usually under. But not on this occasion. So many parts need replacing

I was laughing at the fact you needed more words because you have too many aches and pains then realised that is not funny – that you have so many…

Ah, but I am older than you. 🙂

No need to. Age is but a number…

I don’t know. It might only be a number, but I do know my father, at 99, is more aged than me.

I’d say I get a fair amount from him. He also writes; couple a years back he e-published his memoire, though it’s not available beyond the family. Peace and War, he called it. His experiences from joining army in 1938-39, to the end of WWII.

Lovely Crispina. One’s spirit can never be replaced. It chooses us and yours is lovely.God forbid it becomes easy with new technology. Makes one think, doesn’t it.

Indeed. Just think, I could become a cyborg. Nah. I think I@d rather fall apart. A slow deterioration into oblivion.

That is a mighty fine 89. It’s good you are so attached to your brain. May it never fail you.

Excellent! We really wish if the physical outer appearance could be changed! Ageing is the truth people can’t take lightly… And I wouldn’t blame them

With me it’s only the achy bits. Damage yourself enough, and the rot sets in. And I am good at acruing knocks and strains. I have lead a pretty active life, and still do (though nothing compared with a sportsman)

Yes. People can have active life always. I think it’s more of a heart thing. If you want to stay active you can, of course it will be different though a little.

Well, my father is 99 and still active. Though he’s given up running the marathons (kidding, just kidding)

Hey but still great to know that!😂 One needs to be young at heart
