The Mallet and the Egg

It is imperative we reduce CO2 levels from its present level of 400 ppm, to 150 ppm.

You’re sure you heard that right, Buster? Only at 150 ppm all plant life dies.

Yeah, sure. That’s the only way to solve the problem of our ever-increasing population levels.

Isn’t that taking a mallet to crack an egg? Bloody crazy politicians with their ultimatums.

  1. That sounds like political fact-speak — or the way the higher-ups do math. Meanwhile the speakers jet around, zip around in cavalcades, and burn up how much fossil fuel on their own lifestyles. And thankfully plant life is still with us.

    • Yes, such wastage and hypocracy has not gone unnoticed.
And this was my first ever political satire (I don’t do politics, is my usual cry). It was fun to write, but a little bit risky that the readers wouldn’t understand where I was coming from.

Judging from reports I’ve seen, the global carbon dioxide level had been running just under 280 ppm for millennia before the Industrial Revolution.

So which politician asked for 150? I’m curious.
