A meadow brown butterfly rests upon a head of unripe blackberries, a perfect blend of colours.
And the meadow brown as more often seen: at rest in a meadow.

Capturing butterflies with camera is such a tough task! I don’t have a single snap of it. Also, I didn’t know unripe blackberries looked so yellow.

You have to take whatever chance the butterfly gives you. They bask in the sun, so it’s wise not to throw your shadow over them. This wasn’t the best of shots, or so I thought at the time. Yet I like how I’ve caught to, almost on the same horizontal plane, just enough tilt to see the colours that define the species.
And I’d call the blackberries green at this stage, although the old stamens are kind of an ochre/orange colour around them.

Thank you for the tip! Next time, I will try my best to take the snap.
And I think your picture is really good. No good photographer thinks her picture “too perfect” when it’s just taken, I guess.
Yes, they do seem quite green. 🙂
P.S. a very random question, but do you like cricket? (the game)

Second person in a month to ask me that. No, I’m not much into any sport. I’m not competitive enough. I prefer the things you do on your own, to compete against your personal best, I suppose.

Oh, I see. 🙂
Actually, after the so dramatic World Cup finals, I think even many non-cricket fans are attracted to it.
I also like things we do on our own, and except cricket I watch no other sports. (Well, I left watching cricket in 2015, but had to restart after the world cup.)

Sorry. It leaves me cold. Maybe an aversion gained in childhood?

Beautiful shot Crispina! Patience really IS a virtue 🙂

I guess it took patience. You can’t chase them. You just have to wait.

No. They just like to sun themselve. Like reptiles. Like dinosaours. Those beautiful wings are all tiny scales.

Oh! I didn’t know that. Makes you think. Good to know. More grist for the mill, so to speak! Thanks 🙂

Lovely Crispina, I don’ think I’ve ever seen a meadow brown in the flesh – at least not that I know of anyway 🙂

It was along a field boundary hedge and ditch, no great length, and they were everywhere. And gatekeepers, though I only managed one shot of the gatekeeper, and that wasn’t magnificent. At times there were up to ten butterflies on one head of flowers. I’ve never seen the like.

Oh! These are so lovely! And next to unripe blackberries adds so much texture!

For me, the colours really worked well together. The colour scheme one might choose for… I’m not sure what room. So maybe an outfit for a wedding?

They do. Colour scheme is a tad low-key for me, unless we add a nice splash of, say, red. 😉

I used to like all shades of yellow and orange. But it doesn’t look so good on older skin.

My favourite colour is orange. So far, it still suits 😉

Oranges is such a friendly, outgoing colour; it doesn’t surprise me that’s your favourite. I can still get away with some shades of orange, as I can with some shades of yellow … the deeper shades

It is, now that you mention it . I wear lots of bright. Including yellow. For now 😉

I don’t care for it still though I do have some. You have just brought back a memory of Brenda, Patti and I going out, Those two would be in black and I’d be in bright colours walking between them…

I remember the day too. In fact, I remember the simpering girlfriend of my clubbing-mate, asking me if I liked her new top … chest stuck out. And I answered very simply: It’s black. And as I remember, that was said in a sneer. Myself, I was wearing burnt orange.

Great shots, both of them. It shows how you don’t have to be bright and rainbow-colored to be pretty.

Indeed not. And its colouring is a great disguise.
