Seen reflected in the waters of River Wensum is St James Mill built in 1836 in an attempt to save the local textile trade which was being eroded by mills in the northern counties, with their ample supply of rushing water. The weavers sited here were able to access steam-powered looms. It was the local textile trade’s first step into the Industrial Age.
In the foreground is Whitefriars Bridge. First mentioned in a missive from King Henry I to Bishop Losinga, founder of Norwich Cathedral, just after 1100, it has had many incarnations. This latest bridge was opened in 1925.
The mill was built on the site of the old Whitefriars Priory (Carmelites).
All of which could be said to add up to a Legacy.

Love the picture and the backstory. Very nice.

Thank you. This was a case of taking the photo, looking at it and looking at it and loving it, and needing to find a prompt-title to go with it. The backstory filled that rather neatly.

Love the reflections… the peek at what is on the other side of the bridge! The curve of the arch.
(Very cool that we both chose bridges and reflections!)

My thanks, Jen. I love the shot, but I wasn’t sure others would go for it.

OH YES! You’re welcome! I love it. Could I use it in a story? Without the prompt. With credit of course.

Yea, sure. I’ve told you, I’m not precious about my creative output, be it poems, micro-fiction, or photos. I’ve enjoyed the creation; I’m happy for people to see it. The only time I’d get uppity is if someone claimed it as their own.
