From the long years of my life
From the many studied charms
Now at my death I have the answer
To the tricks that she performed
How she transformed the mice to men
How she an invitation penned
How she a carriage from a pumpkin drew
How she the ash-maid’s clothes renewed
How she created crystal slippers
To adorn the ash-maid in all that glitters
Not with magic from this land
For in this realm all is bland
But from a sixth dimension stolen
Words that roll into a poem
Spoken as otherworldly tells
The fairy godmother’s magic spells

I thank you. It was very quickly penned, while I waited for the rain to ease off. But that prompt appealed and … you see the result

I thank you. I must watch I don’t overdo it; I used the same device in Cold Hands, Cold Hearts

Awesome! Nice idea about where the Fairy Godmother gets her magic from.

Inspired, you might say, by an ancient Greek text. By the time I’d decyphered it (Greek of any age isn’t my language) I realised what it was saying was, to work magic you needed a spirit on the other side (read that as you will, though it didn’t seem to mean that kind of spirit nor death) and words that kinda acted like a dialling code which would fetch their attention. So, you dial up your friendly otherworld helper. Sorry, complex explanation. But then, so was the text. 🙂

I thank you. The word, Magic, caught me, and I had a few minutes to use while I waited for the rain to ease. And so …

O.K. But it’s still a very imaginative take on a familiar Fairy Tale 🙂 Nicely done! Brought a smile to me face. 🙂

I thank you. I think the fact I called it the Ash-Maid’s Wizard Mother, and not Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, helped no end! 🙂
