A riverside walk unexpectedly turned into a family meeting when a swan and her young came to greet us …
No denying it. Those cygnets qualify from the 2019picoftheweek challenge title Soft.

I thank you. It was entirely serendipity. I felt wicked for not feeding them; clearly they were used to it

You’ve captured the scene beautifully Crispina. 🙂

I put it on burst. Thirty photos later. I caught them from the moment they spotted us from across the river. But I never expected the photos to come out so well

Well, they’re lovely. Swans are so elegant and I see you captured their images on the undisturbed water. I could imagine it on the cover of a music concerto. So peaceful. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

I thank you, Susan. They are kinda cute, aren’t they. And very unusual for me to do ‘cute’

It was difficult to select which photo to use. In some, they are cute beyond permissible.

It’s cos they’re fluffly little ugly ducklings. 🙂 A swan? Oh, go on!

Oh, you know, it happens. Couldn’t be set up, no matter how much you tried. Perhaps it has to do with the stars, Gemini being ‘ruled’ by the Twins, begotten upon Leda by Zeus in the form of a swan.

Have to admit, never seen such a successful mum.

Great family photo — and look, all the “kids” are behaving so well for the photo, too! I had forgotten the word cygnet, what a cool word; thanks for the reminder!

I thank you, Joy. The photo opp was truly a case of serendipity.
And don’t forgotten the Swan Family’s other names. There’s Pen, she’s the mother swan, and Cob, he’s the papa. 🙂

Ooh, I never knew about Pen and Cob, that’s fun.

Don’t they teach anything in American school? 🙂

Somehow we skipped the goose names… 😉

Indeed. That’s an amazing number of cygnets in one brood. Unless she was babysitting. Though I saw only one other swan, who I assume was the male.
