Welcome to my weekly challenge—open to all—just for FUN, FUN, FUN
Here’s how it works:
Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE
Here are some suggestions:
- An answering photo
- A cartoon
- A joke
- A caption
- An anecdote
- A short story (flash fiction)
- A poem
- A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
- An essay
- A song—the lyrics or the performance
You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:
- Your creative offering is indeed yours
- Your writing is kept to 150 words or less
If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
If you tag it #CCC others should be able to find it by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)
Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN.
After their rescue, the miners brought their candles, one by one, and left them in sunlight in thanks for the one thing they thought they would never see again.

I like it, Brian. Imaginative and succinct (as one might expect from you). If I knew the keyboard combo to a gold star, and I’d stick one here. Oh well, you’ll have to be content with a smile. 🙂

The inspiration was a folk song I’d sang (badly) recently, “The Springhill [Nova Scotia] Mining Disaster,” here rendered by the Dubliners:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wQYdmqK6Tk

I thank you for the link. Before I heard it I was going to suggest that maybe you were drunk at the time, since my experience of the Dubliners is ‘best taken with booze’.

Interesting new challenge Crispina. I would put a big smile here but I lost my little keyboard with all those wonderful emoticons. So here’s what I have 🙂 🙂

Nah, you needed the break. All work and no break, gives you nightmares when you wake.
Okay, so it rhymes, even if it makes no sense. Happy moves.

I posted a response to the photo prompt, but it doesn’t fit the challenge as it is not a story that could be told in 150 words or less.. I’ll link here anyway, because I think it’s a worthwhile read..

But I so enjoyed the story I didn’t notice if it overran the wordcount. Brilliant story. Truly chucklesome.

Crispina’s let me run over a few times, too, Violet, though not in so good a cause. I did not laugh, I must admit. I just had a wide smile on my face at the end. It’s short, character-driven humor — hard to do, an accomplishment to do well.
