I’d call this the shot of the day. Usually I have to block the sun, it reflecting too strongly on the usually pale body of a fungus. But here . . . wow!
Though whatever the form of puff-ball/earth-ball, I do admit it was already that wonderful earthy ochre colour.
Back lit plants can definitely be interesting and have a magical feel to them. Very interesting shot. Can you eat those?? I think one thing to watch for with back lit plants of fungi is look out of ones with dark backgrounds but wit the light hitting them. I think you will like that a lot. I do love these puff balls!!

During processing I do tend to darken the background. Though on these I didn’t do much. I’ve been delighted to capture some probably woodwaxes, porcelain-white fungi just peeping out of the still-green vegetation. I’ve been happy with those, getting the lighting right. I might post them later in the winter when I’m not getting out so often.

I do love fungi mushrooms etc…they remind me of fairy tales…at least when I am not thinking of food.

I’m saving up a series of photos for a future post called, something like ‘Kitchen Rejects’ cos they look so much like cakes and buns that have gone wrong!

Nah, I’, not saying the fungi are actually edible. Chances are they’re a witches’ delight! But thank you for the invitation. 🙂

BTW, no, I don’t think they’re edible. I wouldn’t chance it.
