Oh, no, seven cats? There’ll be more than four angry words!

Had to look up “minging,” but enjoyed this one quite a lot.

I never gave that a thought. Is it a word used in America? Here it’s used very derogatively, usually by a jealous female, as a total put-down or rival female. It has overtones of ‘cat-scent’, if you know what I mean.

If it has entered American slang, I haven’t heard it, or seen it in print here. Great word, though! My Googling turned up lots of examples; all had the same connotation of dirty, foul, ugly, unpleasant, and malodorous (though cats were not specifically mentioned). Wiktionary says it’s from the Scots word “mingin,” and a different source (no citations) said it was popularized in the UK by the military? When you pronounce does it rhyme with “singing”?

It does indeed. The correct words of 12 days of Christmas has ‘7 swans a swimming’. I tried to keep to the original alliteration.
