Brickbat the Cat 2

Brickbat was a black fluffy cat
who had a limp and a sniff.
The limp wasn’t caused by a broken bone
but by a limb that was stiff.

Now one day when Brickbat went walking,
with his sniff and his stiff-legged limp,
he bumped into Sausage the dachshund
who called him a sniffling wimp.

Our Brickbat’s fur was ruffled,
down his back it stood up on end.
He hissed and he spat at the Sausage
and said, “That’s no way to speak to a friend.”

“Friend?” growled the low-slung Sausage.
“Friend, did you call me, you cat?
“I wouldn’t be friends with a sniffling wimp.”
And Sausage walked away from Brickbat.

Brickbat slumped down on the pavement;
he was sniffling much more, sad to say.
When along came Susie the Siamese cat
with a purr, a wriggle, and “Good day.”

Brickbat looked up in amazement.
“Are you speaking to me, Saucy Sue?”
“Indeed, that I am,” said the cat from Siam.
“I would like to be friends with you.”

“But I limp and I sniff,” snuffled Brickbat.
“So what?” asked Susie Siam.
“Is a cat with a sniff and a leg that is stiff
“any less of a cat than I am?”

I’m a cat lover so this I love! My first owner was a siamese. Her name was Pyewackette which also was the name of The Familiar in Bell Book and Candle. She loved taking me for walk on a lead. She was a great owner! I even fetched for her. So it doesn’t surprise me that Susie was so nice 😊😸
